_CAPSULE:_
On the dark night, in a forest outside of Turtle Cove, three mysterious beams of energy (blue, purple & orange) converge together from sources unknown and unseen. They reconnect the two halves of the broken mask of Zen-Aku (last seen in "The Lone Wolf"), giving it life of its own. Seems, when the curse of the mask was broken, and said mask was broken, not only was Merrick freed, but so was the spirit of Zen-Aku itself. Remember, the Zen-Aku mask had been in Nayzor's possession for nobody knows how long, before it was used to help destroy Master Org. Now, no longer needing a human host, Zen-Aku finds himself longing to be even more powerful (even though, now, since his powers aren't being used to possess Merrick and his three Wildzords, he's stronger than he was prior), and wants to merge again with the Lunar Wolf Ranger, so that they can, together, rule the world.
Zen-Aku faces Merrick. The Wolf Duke Org versus the Animarian Warrior that he possessed the body of for 3000 years. The other Wild Force Rangers want to assist the Lunar Wolf Ranger in this battle, but he refuses to allow them, claiming this is personal. Alyssa saves him from getting cut in half by the Crescent Blade, but he's seriously angered by this rescue. (there's a very obvious, and very annoying flub in this ep, where we see Merrick morph without his Howling Wolf jacket on, fight Zen-Aku continously for hours, and when he finally demorphs, has the jacket on, that always bugs the heck outta me) Eventually, the Wolf Wildzord intervenes somewhat, calling in the WF Rangers, and sending the Savage Cycle to save Merrick in the nick of time. Merrick finally accepts the help of the other Rangers, giving in to the fact they're his friends and a team always fights together. It's tough for the lone wolf to be reluctant about changing his ways, but he gives it his best, and Zen-Aku is overcome. But old ZA makes himself grow, and it's up to the Predazord, using a new trick taught to Merrick by his pool-hustling Roadhouse-owner boss Willie, to knock the Armadillozord at the Duke Org in such a way that his horn is broken off! Revolver Phantom cuts into Zen-Aku, disintergrating the mask and turning his body into dust. Merrick refuses to celebrate the victory with the team, but eventually gives in and joins them... only to slip out between scenes anyway! He ends the ep hanging out with Willie, playing pool, while the Rangers are off on Animarium, playing limbo.
