_CAPSULE SUMMARY:_
Every once and a while, Ernie will have a small TV set up on the counter at the Juice Bar. It's never just there for decoration, vanishing whenever there isn't a scene involving it somewhere in the ep. Well, the TV is on the bar, and it's turned on, showing what looks to be an endless barrage of stock footage of EXTREME snowboarders with a blaring rock soundtrack. Was this shot specifically for this episode, or was it stuff done for the movie "Hot Dog 3"? Like it matters. Anyway, this commercial continues with a female with short dark blonde hair, claiming herself to be Heather Thompson, a championship snowboarder. Billy, Tanya & Kat are intently watching the ad, with Ernie also viewing it occasionally. Heather Thompson is going to be training for "the nationals" this weekend, and urges the viewer to come on down to meet her as she signs autographs. She also mentions possibly seeing the viewer on "The Widowmaker". An onscreen graphic for The Widowmaker, with double black diamonds, either to give a W effect or a sly nod to the Rangers' old costumes, concludes the commercial. Ernie turns the TV off, and declares that you won't see him anywhere NEAR the Widowmaker. Billy assures him it looks fun, with the girls finding this amusing. Ernie tells him that he doesn't see the attraction of falling down a mountain, head first.
Speaking of mountain-falling-down-head-first, on the other side of the Juice Bar, the Youth Center side specifically, Tommy lays back on a weight lifting rack. Rocky & Adam spot him, with "two more sets" to go. I should note that none of the three are dressed for working out, which is strange. Anyway, a mysterious nobody walks into the Juice Bar, holding an article of mail. A letter, exactly, with a stamped envelope, which reads in the center, "Tommy Oliver. 4060 Angel Grove Way. Angel Grove, (5 digit zip code)." In the upper left corner, it reads, "Kimberly. (number & street name). Florida, CA. (5 digit zip code)."
I'm being too descriptive, huh? Well, then, let's get vague and less-wordy. Kim's letter has her BREAKING UP WITH HIM. She's found somebody better there... though, she's nice about it. This leads to Tommy being depressed, and having a flashback montage to Kim. Kat & Billy plan to get his mind off of this breakup, by bringing him up to the mountains to go skiing. Or is it snowboarding? Ahh, probably both. Anyway. Cogs are sent to ruin their weekend getaway. Tommy meets Heather Thompson, and becomes attracted. Especially when she nearly falls to his death, and him & his buddies have to save her! Helplessness is always a positive quality.
Speaking of positive qualities, the Machine Empire creates Robo-Cupid. She falls in love with Klank, but the feelings aren't mutual. She begins making everyone in Angel Grove fall in love with machines! Ernie makes out with his blender, Bulk & Skull fight over the affections of their patrol bike... it's an ugly mess.
