SUMMARY:

[Recap of "Shift Into Turbo, Part 1"]

Justin flips Elgar over at the Angel Grove Energy Center. The solo boy blue may be gaining the unmorphed upperhand, that is, until Elgar calls for a group of Piranahtrons to teleport in and tip the scales a little! Elgar wants to get serious, if such a thing is possible with him.
[opening credits]
Over at the Botanical Gardens, the yellow (for the females) & purple (for the guys) robed students pile in for the final ceremony of their High School years. Good old toupee clad Principal Kaplan (or Caplan, i'm going with the "K" spelling) is giving a speech on the future of the nation being secure. Over the past four years he's watched them all grow and learn, and he's proud of the teens, likely for surviving in such a dangerous town! On the front row, Adam & Tanya begin to wonder where their new buddy Justin is. He can't make it to watch his friends graduate just yet, he's still busy at the Energy plant. With a flip of the wrist and a twist of the key, Justin Morphs into the Blue Turbo Ranger. The Mountain Blaster power boost pumps little Justin up to average Ranger size, making his P-Tron pouncing a little smoother. Back at the Gardens, Adam loses interest in Kaplan's long winded speech, and slips off behind a corner. He contacts Zordon on his Communicator, asking the whereabouts of Justin. Zordon informs him of the situation, but mentions Justin was instructed to call for help if he ran into trouble. Obviously, the cocky adolescent is too caught up in the rush of Morphin', taking on the entire gang of Piranahtrons without haste. Adam pulls Tanya & Kat over to the side, saying he's worried about the newest Ranger recruit. The three are about to go off to check on Justin, when Mr. Kaplan stops Kat, asking if she's ready to give her speech. Hoping she has enough time while other students blab about onstage, Kat tells him she has something she has to take care of first. Adam & Tanya back her up on this being a quick emergency, rushing off before Kaplan can get a word in edgewise. Deep down in the Subcraft, Divatox witness the Rangers abandon their Graduation through her Periscope. Happy her plan is going well, Rygog quips about it being lucky for Elgar it's not a battle of wits. After silencing him, Divatox knows the Rangers will aid Justin and defeat her bumbling nephew. She plans to make sure they don't get to the power plant too quickly.

Adam, Tanya & Kat reach the parking lot, and are about to use their Communicators, when Divatox and a team of Piranahtrons teleport before them! She's come to deliver congratulations in person, by ordering her army to attack. The P-Trons get into combat with the Ranger teens, outnumbering our heroes and slowing them down considerably. They do well in holding their own against them, but they've got other priorities at the moment. Adam's going to try to hold them off, using his ever impressive karate flips and moves, while Tanya & Kat shift into Turbo. Pink & Yellow Rangers then teleport to the Energy Center, and hop into battle with Blue Ranger's own Piranahtron problem. Back at the parking lot, Adam takes a fall, but gets forcefully picked up by Divatox. She's not in the mood for romance, she just isn't letting him take a breather from action. He's going to give her just what she wants, but first it's time for some shifting into Turbo, Adam going Green in an instant. The Desert Thunder Turbo Power helps Green Ranger in tackling the fishy foes, but he's still only one man. Alpha views his P-Tron peril from the Power Chamber, Zordon telling his robotic companion to finally get hold of Tommy to give Adam some assistance. Tommy's finishing up some more stock car test runs, taking a break after setting a new personal record. He climbs out, just as his Communicator beeps. Zordon apologizes for contacting him (hey, Tommy's supposed to be the leader, yet he's too busy playing NASCAR. HE should be the one apologizing to his team for not being there when they need him) and lets him know Adam needs backup. Tommy sneaks off and shifts into Turbo, Red Lightning Power Morphing the longtime Ranger.

Green Ranger is wearing down from constant attacks, when he spots a streak of red racing his way. It's Tommy, fully utilizing his Turbo powers by running faster than the Piranahtrons can react to, taking several of them out in a blur. Adam's glad he showed up when he did, and the two Rangers team up to take down Divatox's forces in the usual Ranger way of sharp kicks and quick flips. Divatox's cheering for her aquatic minions doesn't help them much, the two teens running the drones down. She finally makes a retreat with her army, but lets Adam & Tommy know they might be too late to join their friends at the power plant. Green & Red Rangers leap into the fray, once again going up against Piranahtrons, this time at the Angel Grove Energy Center. Their teammates are busily sparring with P-Trons as well, not to mention the ever elusive Elgar. The fighting occurs all throughout the rigid metal structure of the electric company, Adam being an Easy Ranger by knocking a Piranahtron off a railing. The tuna brained creature falls to the ground, sits up and finally passes out. The Turbo Rangers complete their first routine P-Tron battle, and unite together to confront Elgar. He may have lost the hand-to-hand portion of this meeting, but he already completed the mission he set out to do. Once the villains teleport away, the Rangers are left pondering what Elgar did to the power plant. Kat thinks this answers the question on what happened to Divatox after they ruined her wedding, she didn't return to her home dimension after all. The Rangers have a lot of ground to cover, the Energy Center a pretty huge place. Our heroes rush off together to comb the area, trying to find a clue on what Elgar left behind. Little do they know that in the center of the place, an implosion detonator ticks down: thirty minutes remaining!

Amid the piping and electrical tubing, lies Divatox's detonator, eighteen minutes left on the timer (LONG commercial break, there). The Turbo Rangers are clueless as to Divatox's newest plan, still unable to find a trace of anything dangerous inside the massive energy plant. They decide to split up and scour the scene in two teams, one set inside working out, and vice versa. The timer counts down to sixteen minutes, the Rangers still nowhere near locating it. Tommy has Justin return to the Power Chamber, and work with Alpha on adjusting the Turbo Navigator. It helped them find Lerigot in the movie, it should help them find a force of destruction. He runs off, Pink & Red Rangers continuing to race around blind to the detonator hitting the twelve minute mark. Onboard the Subcraft, Elgar hauls in a bottle of water, complaining on it being impossible to get water delivered 20,000 leagues under. Divatox giggles evilly, watching her detonator through her Periscope, boasting the Rangers couldn't find pointy ears at a Star Trek convention. Meanwhile at the Power Chamber, Justin teleports in (Morphed but helmetless) and notices Alpha excitingly witnessing a portal opening on the viewing screen. Justin surprises the automaton, whom quickly turns the screen off and asks what he's doing here. Justin explains the necessity to upgrade the Turbo Navigator to the nervous Alpha 5. Zordon mentions the Navigator already automatically responses to any extraterrestrial organism or device, and won't need any alterations. Justin tweaks some knobs on the console, and the Turbo Navigator forms on the table. He picks it up and heads back to action, confused as to why Alpha is acting so antsy. It seems that Alpha has a secret, telling Zordon that was a close call. The ancient Eltarian sage responds by saying the time for them to know will come soon enough.

Four of the Turbo Rangers regroup in the Energy Center, having come up empty handed in their search. Justin returns with the Turbo Navigator, briefly mentioning Alpha's odd mood. Tommy activates the T-Nav device, which quickly locates something near the main generator, the Rangers rush to the disturbance. In the Subcraft, Elgar squeegees Porto face plate clean, before accidentally sneezing on it and having to start again. Divatox is surrounded by goofballs, but there's always her second-in-command to bring down the level of incompetency. She has Rygog send his best set of Piranahtrons to stop the Rangers before they reach the time bomb. With a minute & thirty seconds left on the timer, the Rangers finally discover it in the Energy Center. Before they even get a chance to assess the situation and disarm the detonator, Rygog & P-Trons make an explosive entrance. The aquatic minions begin to swarm on our heroes, trying to distract them from the detonator. Tommy grabs onto the dangerous device, only a minute left on the clock with no apparent switches to disarm it. While his teammates stay behind to hold off the Piranhas, he has to get that thing out of there! Running out of the power plant as quickly as possible given the resistance, Red Ranger contacts Zordon in need of help in getting that bomb to safety. Zordon is sending in the Robotic Arsenal Mobilizer, better known as the Turbo R.A.M., to provide some assistance. It rolls in, Tommy straps the detonator to the tiny wheeled wonder made up of the Rangers Turbo weapons. With the final seconds counting down, Tommy sends the RAM off as fast as it can go, racing away from the Energy Center. The Rangers join together as the implosion goes off in the distance, doing no damage to the power facility at all! The Turbo Rangers cheer on a job well done, as meanwhile in the Power Chamber, Alpha is continuing to watch a wormhole open on the viewing screen. It'll be completely opened in a few minutes, and then will only remain open for a short time. Zordon states it is crucial they are prepared, and has Alpha contact Lerigot right away.

The Graduation Ceremony continues to drag on, Mr. Kaplan boring everyone there by reminding everyone of all the field trips the senior class took. Adam, Kat, Tanya & Justin have finally arrived, so Kaplan turns the podium over to the commencement speaker Katherine! Divatox is none too happy while peeking through her Periscope at the festivities, Elgar getting on her nerves by pointing out how she messed up in trying to ruin their graduation. Kat speaks on stage of all the knowledge of themselves & the world, the confidence to face what life hands them, and the friendships that will last forever they will take from their High School experiences. Rocky sits on the front row with the rest of his Ranger pals, and once Kat finishes her speech, she joins them. Kaplan tells the departing students to move their tassels to the other side of their caps, he's proud of the class of 1997, saluting them and wishing good luck in whatever the future holds. The teens toss their hats in the air, and begin celebrating. Justin rushes over to engage in a group hug between the Rangers teens, the last time we'll ever see Rocky!

Later on at the Juice Bar, the graduates gather around in their old hangout. Tanya mentions she's the new trainee for the radio station KAGV, Adam will be spending this summer as a stuntman for the Angel Grove Amusement Park. Lt. Stone comes into the place, the Bulk & Skull chimps hanging off of him. Kat asking where they came from (she knows a thing or two about monkeys, see season 3's "A Chimp In Charge), he says he found them wandering around outside. They dragged him in here, and he may not be the best detective in the world, but notices they're trying to tell him something. The Bulk Chimp tries telling his former superior the two simians he's holding are the two biggest nuisances in his life gone ape! Unfortunately, Elgar's Changer Laser made them unable to speak to anyone else but each other in these short hairy forms. Nobody hears them do anything but chatter, and nobody seems to notice B&S missing either. Bulk's worries of not being recognized fade away upon spotting a banana split on a table nearby. He's gotta have it, shuffling over to the guy eating it, hopping up & down on a chair until he slides the bowl over to the chimp. Lt. Stone runs after him, but bumps into a waiter, sending a dish of ice cream falling straight onto his head. Everyone has a good laugh, looking at Stone covered in a banana split. The chimps surrounding him, he begins to find something awfully familiar about those two. Elsewhere in the Power Chamber, Alpha & Zordon wait impatiently for Lerigot to show up. With a flash teleportation in, the little Liarian named Lerigot finally appears. Alpha shakes his arm, as the alien talks of "home, going soon" in his usual vague manner. Zordon welcomes him, and has Alpha check on the status of the wormhole. It's nearly ready for interdimensional travel, the time to go nearing soon, Zordon tells Alpha to contact the Rangers when it is complete. Down in the Subcraft, Divatox spots the wormhole opening in space, and asks Porto where it leads to. He says the planet Eltar, but wonders who'd want to go there. She knows of just one intergalactic being who has any reason to go to Eltar, thinking this might be her lucky day for revenge after all!
